Grafton Street is one of the two principal shopping streets in Dublin city centre. Buskers, including musicians, poets and mime artists commonly perform to the shopping crowds. This scene was portrayed in the 2006 film Once, starring Glen Hansard of The Frames, a former Grafton Street busker.

The Great South Wall, at the Port of Dublin, extends from Ringsend nearly four miles out into Dublin Bay. It was the world’s longest sea-wall at the time of its building, remaining one of the longest in Europe. At the seaward end of the wall stands the red-painted Poolbeg Lighthouse.
