Night shots / star effect without filter
Posted by pbOOg.cOm at 06:00 PM in 2008Maybe have you ever wondered how light sources are transformed into stars during the night
without using a “star” filter.
Example :

Goods station of Denges. Here, lamps are transformed into star with 6 branches (that depends on the lens used).
Here’s the technique with a reflex or any camera with a manual mode :
- Use a tripod and mount your camera on it
- Choose the smallest sensitivity (usually 100 or 200 ISO)
- Set the manual mode and choose the longest exposure time (usually 30 sec)
- Choose the opening as small as possible for this long exposure time (f/11 to f/22 usually)
- Shot ! (using the timer or a remote control is even better)
